PARI is a package for mathematics (number theory).

The package can be built by "compile from source distribution",
but there exist some packages for OpenSUSE Linux and Debian Linux, and 
OpenIndiana.

The developers of PARI are aware of the existence of the OpenIndiana package 
although that the OpenIndiana package is provided by OpenIndiana (from the 
OpenIndiana repository), not by the PARI team.

As the Debian package https://packages.debian.org/bookworm/pari-gp by Bill 
Allombert says :
 
" PARI/GP is a widely used computer algebra system designed for fast 
computations in number theory (factorizations, algebraic number theory, 
elliptic curves...), but also contains a large number of other useful functions 
to compute with mathematical entities such as matrices, polynomials, power 
series, algebraic numbers etc., and a lot of transcendental functions. PARI is 
also available as a C library to allow for faster computations.

Originally developed by Henri Cohen and his co-workers (University Bordeaux I, 
France), PARI is now under the GPL and maintained by Karim Belabas with the 
help of many volunteer contributors.

This package contains the GP calculator."

The "pari-elldata" package for PARI installs both pari (gp) and a set of data 
files for elliptic curves.

After installing either "pari" or "pari-elldata", to run PARI, the command "gp" 
can be used to start the "GP calculator".
