It's not fully source compatible, either --- there was a function signature change.  Nothing that would be terrible to adjust for IIRC, just tedious in large projects (or across numerous small projects).  But it seems like maybe we don't have much (if anything) left to worry about in OI, anyway.

Yeah, that's the sticking point.  I wonder if there are people out there still running things like that.

One major software package using motif is the GUI for Sun SGE,
which we still have in production. No problem to obsolete the
runtime library, I can just copy the required libraries over
to /usr/local/lib.
