Good find of Timothy Scott Coalson to detect the documentation error (which incorrectly states that UEFI boot is not supported).
I'll try to create a documentation update to add a remark that UEFI without secure boot is also working on OpenIndiana Hipster. In any case, I installed from CD (physical CD) OpenIndiana on a UEFI system and it worked. In any case special thanks to Toomas Soome and all of the OpenIndiana/Illumos developers for the UEFI support.
