Did you install virtualbox-additions?
Hmm .. the vboxms driver from additions might no longer be necessary.
At least with VBox6 and pointer set as USB tablet.

No. The Guest Addition is still necessary.

You will find it quickly that without it, you can't use the middle mouse button
to scroll and can't select item from a list of a GUI application, e.g: the
Display program when you choose resolutions, without holding the left mouse
button. If you ever release the mouse button, the list will collapse
immediately without allow you to select the item you want.

This and many minor annoyances.

BTW, you have to install the Guest Addition via VirtualBox's insert guest
addition CD image. The package virtualbox-additions seemed to be the Guest
Addition ISO, thing to be inserted into a VirtualBox VM, not the Guest Addition
itself.

The ISO is not part of the package (?)

$ pkg contents -r virtualbox-additions
PATH
dev/vboxguest
dev/vboxms
etc/fs/vboxfs/mount
etc/xdg/autostart/vboxclient.desktop
lib/opengl/ogl_select/vbox_vendor_select
usr/bin/VBoxClient
usr/bin/VBoxClient-all
usr/bin/VBoxControl
usr/bin/VBoxService
usr/kernel/drv/amd64/vboxguest
usr/kernel/drv/amd64/vboxms
usr/kernel/drv/vboxguest.conf
usr/kernel/drv/vboxms.conf
usr/kernel/fs/amd64/vboxfs
usr/sbin/vboxmslnk
var/svc/manifest/application/virtualbox/vboxmslnk.xml
var/svc/manifest/application/virtualbox/vboxservice.xml

Maybe get and mount the VBoxGuestAdditions ISO image into the vm and run "runasroot.sh" as root...

Greetings,

Stephan
