I've never used nftables but doubt it, if "compatibility with nftables" is a feature then no. No doubt one could find a "feature" of ipfilter that does not exist in nftables.
If blocking, forwarding and NAT are the features you desire then ipfilter will serve you.
Please be more specific about what you are trying to do - or read some ipfilter docs.
