G'day,
I don't know what I changed, but something has.... It's an old OpenSolaris server, and I'm not sure where else to ask for help, Google hasn't been helpful.

Connecting to my server using a VNC viewer used to work, but as of a couple of months ago now, I get a GOK window and a half screen magnifier, and even when I enter the correct username and password (same that I use for ssh logins, I know it works!), I get a failed authentication, so I can't log in using VNC.

Screen shot attached.

It is possible that the system has been attacked, it's not firewalled, some attack may have sent it some reconfigure stuff? not sure if GOK or the magnifier are triggered by any hotkeys and I can't find good doco on them to explain. I can turn off GOK by sigterm'ing it from an SSH login, but it doesn't release the keyboard to let me type. I've tried two different VNC clients (TightVNC & UltraVNC) - neither make any difference.

Can anyone here point me at the right doco to sort this out?

 uname -a
SunOS hostie 5.11 illumos-5d539a8 i86pc i386 i86pc

Thank you,

Carl
