Kind of a long story there. I did try to get sendmail working but never did make the grade. Finally turned to linux where I am more comfortable and knowledgeable (in some small way). So I just gave up on it. Got it working fairly quickly in a linux vbox vm. I got the notion over time and experience with running vms that in some ways having my mail reliant on a vm running on my openindiana host meant having 2 hosts to worry about so far as my local mail is concerned. So decided to put in some time retrying a sendmail setup on openindiana. > In terms of sendmail, I personally switched to postfix a few years ago > so I can't provide a working config. I haven't even got the submission part to work yet, let alone the relaying to smarthost. Something I've managed on linux hosts a few times. Rather than sink more time in configuring sendmail on openindiana; I think I will follow your example and move to postfix, which I have also setup a couple of times on linux. I have to get some other work done now but when I come back to it, if I manage to get postfix going ... then I will move local mail to openindiana host. > But I would make two comments: [...] Thank you for those, and other insights and clues. _______________________________________________ openindiana-discuss mailing list [email protected] https://openindiana.org/mailman/listinfo/openindiana-discuss
