I also think that there should be a section along the lines of: "Why
should I use OpenIndiana rather than Oracle Solaris?" because the
answer is not only that "OpenIndiana is open-source and Solaris is
not". The answer is also "OpenIndiana supports 32-bit hardware and
Solaris does not". This is a strong reason for using OpenIndiana
rather than Solaris, and yet it appears nowhere in your FAQ.
As far as I am aware, use of versions of Oracle Solaris beyond Solaris
10 U8 requires paying a exorbitant support fee (on the order of $1k
per socket) beyond a specified trial period. For many, this may be a
strong reason to prefer OpenIndiana.
From recent postings regarding OpenIndiana Hipster, it seems that
OpenIndiana is moving away from supporting 32-bit hardware (although
32-bit applications will continue to be supported).
