is myspell itself actually installed on your system, or just the dictionaries?
It did used to just work for me on Illumos ... on Ubuntu I take to installing any package with en-gb in it: root@jadlaptop:~# apt-cache search en-gb | grep en-gb libreoffice-help-en-gb - office productivity suite -- English_british help libreoffice-l10n-en-gb - office productivity suite -- English_british language package myspell-en-gb - English_british dictionary for myspell thunderbird-locale-en-gb - Transitional English language pack for Thunderbird childsplay-alphabet-sounds-en-gb - British sound files for childsplay root@jadlaptop:~# aptitude search spell | grep '^i' i aspell - GNU Aspell spell-checker i aspell-en - English dictionary for GNU Aspell i hunspell-en-ca - English_canadian dictionary for hunspell i hunspell-en-us - English_american dictionary for hunspell i libaspell15 - GNU Aspell spell-checker runtime library i libhunspell-1.3-0 - spell checker and morphological analyzer ( i myspell-en-au - English_australian dictionary for myspell i myspell-en-gb - English_british dictionary for myspell i myspell-en-za - English_southafrican dictionary for myspel I don't have access to a working Firefox on Illumos atm to check. Give me a few days and I'll get around to re-installing a virtualbox image.
