I've been using the kernel cifs service to access ZFS filesystems from
Windows and Macs for a couple of years, using oi_148.

Today users trying to connect don't get prompted for
username/password. They get a "cannot connect" message.

NFS exports from the OI machine are still working.

I've stopped and started the two online smb services, but that didn't
help -- maybe these service are not involved with kernel cifs access,
or at least they're not where the problem lies.

   svcadm disable svc:/network/smb/server:default
   svcadm enable svc:/network/smb/server:default

   svcadm disable svc:/network/shares/group:smb
   svcadm enable svc:/network/shares/group:smb

Any other suggestions short of rebooting?

Thanks,
Martin
