Thanks, Alan. Good question though.
Hopefully, we can end this specific thread and open new topics under proper subject headers to follow. ~ Ken Mays ________________________________ From: Alan Coopersmith <[email protected]> To: Discussion list for OpenIndiana <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, June 9, 2013 12:42 PM Subject: Re: [OpenIndiana-discuss] [UNSUBSCRIBE] On 06/ 9/13 02:46 AM, ken mays wrote: > The question can pertain to 'does Oracle Linux 6.4, Solaris 11.0, and Solaris > 10u1-u10 work or install on the new SPARC T5 or SPARC64-X servers?'. Oracle Linux does not run on any SPARC systems, only x86/x64. I've not kept track of if the SPARC support in the upstream kernel has T5 support yet, but few Linux distros actually build SPARC versions. Neither Solaris 11.0 nor Solaris 10u1-u10 work directly on the T5 hardware - you need Solaris 11.1 or Solaris 10 1/13 (u11) to run on the hardware, though you can run slightly older versions in a guest domain. I have no idea if enough technical info was or will be released to allow porting OpenSolaris-derived distros such as OpenSXCE to T5/M5. -- -Alan Coopersmith- [email protected] Oracle Solaris Engineering - http://blogs.oracle.com/alanc _______________________________________________ OpenIndiana-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://openindiana.org/mailman/listinfo/openindiana-discuss _______________________________________________ OpenIndiana-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://openindiana.org/mailman/listinfo/openindiana-discuss
