But this time at the end of the installer there was some messages about linking and creating devices files in /dev (which does not appear in oi) and afterwards the installer finishes and the nic is working!
This step seems like output from "devfsadm -Cv" which checks present hardware and drivers and makes (and removes) device nodes. The same happens if you "touch /reconfigure; reboot" for example. Likewise, there is a limited variant (-i?) to do this only for a particular driver.
