Might be worth a look indeed. FYI this is a supermicro x9scl-f motherboard with Xeon e31230 cpu (4-core 3.2ghz) very state of the art, but not bleeding edge, AFAIK...

PS. make sure you have a large swap area, KVM wants as much swap as memory you grant to the KVM instance.
