Jim,

I maintain the Wine spec for SFE (OpenIndiana/Solaris 11 tested).

Apps that will run on it are at: http://appdb.winehq.org/

Subject: [OpenIndiana-discuss] WINE on OI

Hello all,

I've seen that a WINE (WINdows Emulator) package is available in
OI repositories. Could anyone please elaborate a typical setup on
the OI wiki http://wiki.openindiana.org/oi/7.+Virtualization -
what can be done with it and how, what sorts of programs work, etc.?

Is it the same type of WINE as is provided on Linux? (I haven't
used either of those too, so...)

You can respond by mail and I (or some other enthusiast) would
sum it up on the Wiki, if that's more simple to the content authors ;)

Also, a page with some info on use of DOSBox and its GUI frontends
on OI would be nice. If we can attract younger developers who can
not only code, but also work and play, on their illumos-based
desktops without rebooting or VBoxing into another OS, the more
features we can hope to expect when they work around usability
bugs for their own and then public benefit ;)

Thanks,
//Jim Klimov
