Hello,

Just reviewed the Mesa 7.10 test builds and packaging for OI_148. An issue to
bring up is in the future support of open source graphic drivers for
OpenIndiana.

Most of the users seem to have either ATI Radeon, Intel, or Nvidia-based GPUs.
The Intel and Radeon 2D drivers are being updated, but the functionaliity with
certain GPUs/cards is somewhat broken and performance regressed in certain
configurations. Be aware of this. I don't expect many improvements in this area
before the next release of S11X.

Workaround: Create a xorg.conf file and use the VESA driver as an immediate
failsafe and debugging purposes.

Due to the 'server' nature of OpenIndiana, just use the Nvidia drivers with
Xorg if you need OpenGL-based 3D graphics for your desktop applications. Use
the official upstream fixes as they become available.
