This sounds like a bug I encountered a while back: https://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/show_bug.cgi?id=10710 When I was running opensolaris I used a modified rge binary driver from Masa (who also wrote that gani driver) which he posted in this thread: http://opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=116005 I was under the impression that at least some of his changes had been merged at some point, as upgrading to OI seemed to resolve my issues (on amd64, at least). I guess there's a lot of different hardware variations covered by the rge driver though, so it could be hardware specific.
