Thank you all for the support. I'm sorry i didn't mention that i used the text-installer, from my point of view the textinstaller meant "uses no gui to install". I have to get used to the differences between Solaris10 and OpenIndiana. I am/was not familiar with the "pkg search" and "pkg install" routines, but that really makes a sysadmins life a much easier. Thumbs up fort he persons who created it.
The installer of slim_install fails. But i will start over with the latest release. r...@openindiana:~# pkg install slim_install Creating Plan \pkg: No version of slim_install can be installed: pkg://openindiana.org/[email protected],5.11-0.147:20100914T070348Z: Suitable required dependency pkg:/library/java/[email protected],5.11-0.134 cannot be found pkg://openindiana.org/[email protected],5.11-0.148:20101125T042738Z: Suitable required dependency pkg:/archiver/[email protected],5.11-0.148 cannot be found pkg://openindiana.org/[email protected],5.11-0.148:20101216T082925Z: Suitable required dependency pkg:/archiver/[email protected],5.11-0.148 cannot be found BR, Roelof -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- Van: Michael Schuster [mailto:[email protected]] Verzonden: zaterdag 18 december 2010 9:09 Aan: Discussion list for OpenIndiana Onderwerp: Re: [OpenIndiana-discuss] *sigh* remote desktop thingy On Sat, Dec 18, 2010 at 09:04, Roelof van der Wal <[email protected]> wrote: > Gdm is not 'installed', i checked it yesterday and was not in the svcs list. > But i guessed that it wasn't needed/used by openindiana. erm ... could you have said so? we'd get to the point much quicker if you provided the information you have and your conclusions, not just a tidbit that might or might not be relevant. since you don't have gdm installed, why not apply the "pkg search gdm; pkg install <what you found out>" pattern?
