Thank you all for the support. I'm sorry i didn't mention that i used the 
text-installer, from my point of view the textinstaller meant "uses no gui to 
install". 
I have to get used to the differences between Solaris10 and OpenIndiana. I 
am/was not familiar with the "pkg search" and "pkg install" routines, but that 
really makes a sysadmins life a much easier. Thumbs up fort he persons who 
created it. 

The installer of slim_install fails. But i will start over with the latest 
release.

erm ... could you have said so? we'd get to the point much quicker if
you provided the information you have and your conclusions, not just a
tidbit that might or might not be relevant.

since you don't have gdm installed, why not apply the "pkg search gdm;
pkg install <what you found out>" pattern?
