There may be additonal effort, although in talking to doctors in the VA who are paperless now...they seem to be able to get home in time for dinner by updating the medical record during the encounter
The UK Brit Med Assoc (BMA) complained the media that general practice (GP) primary care doctors at ~10 min per appointment resented the displacement of their focus away from the patient represented by concurrent data entry.
This seems like a good point.
Could this be solved with some sort of structured english voice 2 text system? Lots of clinicians use a dictaphone while interviewing patients.
