I found a document that might help. It describes:

     lshal --monitor
     dbus-monitor --system
Ah, I tried the first command on an OI system running the 2020-11-27
BE and did get some output while I inserted and removed a USB stick:

     <root@ryzen># lshal --monitor

     Start monitoring devicelist:

This system did automount the USB stick and did pop up a window
showing the contents of the stick. Now we are getting somewhere.
Something is wrong with the OS upgrade. All that's left is to figure
out what is missing or what is ignoring USB events.

I don't use USB sticks with OI but I noticed something probably related
on my desktop: For some time now newly plugged mice or keyboards cannot
be used in X11. Even logout and re-login doesn't help. It looks as if
USB device need to be plugged during boot in order to be usable.
