Looks like apache in hipster has run into this bug: https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=54993
In my case, it looks like apache doesn't even respond to requests. The logs have a stream of:
(81)File descriptor in bad state: apr_pollset_poll failed. Attempting to shutdown process gracefully
