The Apache LDAP libraries are are apparently not very actively maintained and
the embedded server we use for testing is a nightmare to use (it even has to be
started using a customized ClassLoader to work at all for us). Currently the
free Java LDAP SDK of choice seems to be the UnboundID LDAP SDK
(https://docs.ldap.com/ldap-sdk/docs/index.html). We should switch, at least to
make it easier to avoid future security issues with ApacheDS and it's
dependencies.
