This is a very insightful comment. Github has been a great thing for both NumPy and SciPy. However, it has changed the community feel for many because these pull request discussions don't happen on this list. You have to comment on a pull request to get notified of future comments or changes. The process is actually pretty nice, but it does mean you can't just hang out watching this list. You have to look at the pull requests and get involved there. It would be nice if every pull request created a message to this list.
