"Stack smashing" can be caused by the wrong combination of OS version,
architecture (x86_64), the patch you are using. (And a failed build.)
*** Ns2 is for a 32bits OS (i686).
*** Not all patches will work with a 64bits OS (x86_64.)

Which OS are you using ? Name and version, please.
Which architecture ? ? →
