gdb is sometimes a problem for the test suite, either failing mysteriously in some environments or just being unavailable for several architectures. After this series, T380-atomicity is the only remaining use of gdb in the test suite. In principle that should be doable with the same approach, although I think this means essentially translating atomicity.py into C, which might be a bit tedious.
