Fixed by [PR #3825|https://github.com/apache/thrift/pull/3825], merged as
[ec9278e67|https://github.com/apache/thrift/commit/ec9278e676f384a206c515e22cd57aaa1c83f41e].
[.asf.yaml|https://github.com/apache/thrift/blob/master/.asf.yaml] now sets
{{github.description}} and {{github.homepage}}, which ASF GitBox synchronizes
into the repository metadata, so the About section no longer depends on a
manual change by INFRA. Verified against the live repository: {{description}}
is "Apache Thrift" and {{homepage}} is https://thrift.apache.org/.
To change either value later, edit {{.asf.yaml}} on master; GitBox applies it
on the next push. The same block is where topics and other repository settings
belong, per the [ASF .asf.yaml
reference|https://github.com/apache/infrastructure-asfyaml/blob/main/README.md].
