I have been meaning to get an email together but I haven't had time yet. That
was why I hadn't merged yet. I probably should have set as draft.
The reasoning is to avoid/minimise the needing for casting but I haven't
finished working through all of the ramifications. Once I get the next releases
out I will get back to the email. We still have time, I don't have any
imminent release plans for Groovy 5 alpha1.
