@jdaugherty I appreciate the explanation. I acknowledge that the info can indeed be obtained by other means. However, web crawlers do not clone Git repositories and run git commands to extract information. But they do index GitHub URLs such as https://raw.githubusercontent.com/apache/grails-core/refs/tags/v7.0.7/.mailmap Google itself notified that my info was exposed in that file, which is how I came across it. On the other hand, I appreciate that the use case is legitimate. I hadn't seen before any other open-source projects using `.mailmap`, but upon researching a bit, it appears there are some. Not a lot, but some. Honestly, I reported the issue in good will just to prevent the project to face any potential GDPR liabilities, or that anybody else may report it in a less friendly way.
