In the meeting an example of wanting to recover a session was vim. vim has
a recovery mode.
vim -r {file}
If the file hasn't been saved, it will still have a .swp file created that
you can open. (Tested, verified.)

But I can see tmux is handy to have persistent remote sessions (presented
at the meeting).
