I deleted the garbage message and banned the offender in question. My guess is that somehow the google groups platform is allowing a message to pass through after a certain amount of time.
I did a quick check to see who all is a manager or owner and I recognized every single email address. I'll pass it off as a stupid person does stupid thing this time, but if it happens again, I'll dig more into how approvals exactly work.
