My company is recycling some older HP Elitebooks, and I was able to convince my boss to let me test a few of them. I was able to find 2 HP Elitebooks 8460p's that booted right away. Several more gave the "3-blink" error code, meaning "No memory detected." All have had their hard drives removed. There were several models, though all are relatively similar (14" 8440p's, 8460p's, 8470p's, 12.5" 2540p's, 2560p's, 2570p's). It's older hardware (5-7 years old), but still very functional for our needs.
With some cheap RAM and hard drives, I think I could get these in working condition as loaners for the study groups or machines for future King of the Hill events. Assuming I can get my boss on board (which shouldn't be too hard since these are being recycled anyway), how many machines do you think we could use? I have 5 so far. I've attached the hardware information I got off one of the working 8460p's.
