I think for tonight's talk, the slides will be sufficient. there are a lot of good screencasting programs out there. For Mac I prefer ScreenFlow.
If I had to so something cross platform I'd consider http://dahuapp.github.io/ since it is open source and works on Linux, Mac, PC, possibly BSD.
