So I haven't lost any sleep over the migration to ubuntu 14.04, but I
haven't been happy either. Yes, it's the ~!@#$%^ desktop manager again.
This morning, I finally spent ten minutes searching to try to set my
desktop workspaces the way I want them. In the course of that search, I
happen upon gnome session flashback (aka fallback):

It works like I wanna work.
I shall now grumble less.
