I periodically update my OUI database, I have a program that watches the DHCP server and looks up the OUI manufacturer information from the MAC address.
Last time I updated, which I think was something about a year ago, Apple had about 160 OIDs. At 16 million machines per OUI, that's a lot of potential hardware out there. Microsoft had 16, not being a major hardware manufacturer. As of today, Apple has 328 OUIs and Microsoft is up to 22. Don't worry, the world isn't running out of OUIs any time soon. We've used up 1.1% of the total number available.
