Hi folks, Decision time. This Friday's 2600 meeting falls on the 4th of July. Do we meet or reschedule?
Meet: The street closures should all be east of the I40/I65 & 13th/14th Ave S intersection (though you still may want to avoid that entire area & approach JJ's from the west, ie the 440 & West End exit), and the big fireworks display doesn't start 'til 9:45pm, so the traffic snarls once it's over will run from ~10:15pm - midnightish. We should be long gone before any of that. Reschedule: Most attendees may have other plans for the holiday/weekend. All of the traffic that would normally park downtown will be pushed towards Vandy/JJ's. I've made a few calls and had conflicting answers as to whether or not the JJs/Noshville parking lot be a monitored/pay lot on Friday, whether JJs customers would get a refund with receipt, etc. Plus, the open area across from where the Great Escape used to be will have an outdoor stage set up and be running events all day (ie - Division & 19th area). Short version - Even if people are willing to show, we may have a worse time finding parking than when we tried the PhreakNIC planning meeting at JJ's on a Saturday afternoon. If we reschedule, my vote is for the following Friday, July 11th, 6:00pm at JJ's. We could also do Saturday, July 5th or Sunday, July 6th, at Sal's Family Pizza again in Franklin. Please discuss your yeas/nays on the se2600/Nashville2600 lists (and not the NLUG list) and/or send me your comments within the next ~36hrs & I'll post a decision at noon on Thursday.
