*Direct Client Requirement* *Role: **Technical Writer* *Duration: 24 Months contract* *Location: O’Fallon**, Missouri* *Job ID: 1410 - 1* *Summary:* *Major Accountabilities:*-Manage and perform all or various stages of processes to publish technical content in online, CD-ROM, and printed formats, adhering to strict deadlines. -Develop and implement publication processes within the department and with external vendors. -Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Research; analyze and recommend new electronic media technologies; including proposal preparation and cost and benefit analyses. -Work with writers to analyze customer needs and determine the most appropriate production method. -Provide publishing support, including format conversions and testing of online content.
-Perform online quality checks for writers before manuals are published.-Provide customer service to members and internal departments. Provide technical support for department specific software. -Maintain departmental databases and provide reporting on a regular and an ad hoc basis. -Manage archival of online and hardcopy documentation Work with Business Owners to create and update technical forms Repurpose documentation for publication in hardcopy and on CDs -Technically support publication of online pages and Information Centers (published in HTML)
*Education (preferred):*Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with emphasis on information technology, and publishing.
*Knowledge/Experience (preferred):* -Extended PC and analytical skills.-Solid knowledge of database applications and electronic publications software. -Solid project management skills and ability to lead documentation projects and ability to meet strict deadlines. Experience with or prepared to learn Arbortext Editor, HTML, Robohelp, Dreamweaver, and MS Access.
*Skills/Abilities:*-Ability to clearly demonstrate principals of cooperation, integrity, and accountability. -Solid Communication skills fosters open communication and listens to others. -Solutions Oriented ability to collaborate with others to provide knowledge in the development of products, processes and standards, in support of a successful end result -Ability to adapt personal work style to accommodate an ever changing and diverse environment -Ability to comply with Client publication standards, while continuing to identify opportunities for improvement, and initiating change through appropriate channels.
*Working Conditions:* -limited supervision.-Ability to work well with a team is required, as coordination and cooperation with an extended team of publication analysts and writers occurs daily
