Are you sure?
intel_pmu_hw_config() has:
if (event->attr.precise_ip) {
    if (event->attr.sample_type & PERF_SAMPLE_CALLCHAIN)
            event->attr.sample_type |= __PERF_SAMPLE_CALLCHAIN_EARLY;
}
