This makes a 3c980-TX NIC start throwing Tx timeout errors once it's put
under a bit of load.
If the patch had been separated into a series of four (as it should have
been) then I'd have been able to identify the offending one. But I don't
really have the time to work out what's gone wrong here, sorry.
