IMHO, you are misreading Ben's words. All he's arguing for is that TSO should be off by default because more often than not it just doesn't work, and every time he reports an issue he is told that version N+1 will work better, honestly. Since I don't use TSO myself I can't comment on that, but if there are issues, his request doesn't seem totally unreasonable to me.
