Thank you. Just for completion sake, I tried both base sshd, and upstream openssh-portable, both installed from pkgsrc and compiled. What I observed:
1. OpenSSH just needs a big recvspace for SCP transfers in general 2. NetBSD's sshd that comes in the base system with the HPN patch needs HPN enabled to achieve good speeds. With HPN off (which is by default) receive speeds are very low. 3. Upstream OpenSSH-portable (whether installed from security/openssh or compiled from upstream) works fine without any modification (as long as recvspace is big enough). Not sure why it's that way but increasing the recvspace and enabling HPN fixed things for me. Thanks for your help and I hope this information helps others. Don't hesitate to contact me directly if I missed something or got anything wrong. - z411
