Hi All, For monitoring purposes I want to read out interface statistics of a linux device (CentOS 5 - net-snmp-5.3.2.2-9).
When performing a walk I get following information: # snmpwalk -v 2c -c public localhost ... IF-MIB::ifDescr.1 = STRING: lo IF-MIB::ifDescr.2 = STRING: eth0 IF-MIB::ifDescr.3 = STRING: eth1 IF-MIB::ifDescr.4 = STRING: eth0.10 IF-MIB::ifDescr.5 = STRING: eth0.11 IF-MIB::ifDescr.6 = STRING: eth0.14 ... IF-MIB::ifInOctets.1 = Counter32: 168254669 IF-MIB::ifInOctets.2 = Counter32: 3560008929 IF-MIB::ifInOctets.3 = Counter32: 0 IF-MIB::ifInOctets.4 = Counter32: 2817298629 IF-MIB::ifInOctets.5 = Counter32: 145439114 IF-MIB::ifInOctets.6 = Counter32: 674806691 ... It seems that the information of the vlan interfaces (4-5-6) are included in the main interface (2). Is this correct? I notice this that when large amount of traffic is send through eth0.14, the eth0 also counts a large amount of traffic. Can someone explain the relation between the eth0 and eth0.x devices? How can I monitor the traffic send on eth0 without any vlan traffic? Thanks in advance!
