NAntContrib (nantcontrib.sf.net) has the <version> task. We use it to increment the build numbers in our builds and then check the build.number file into the source repository (SVN).
FWIW, we use CruiseControl.NET to do our nightly builds, and it has the capability to keep track of version numbers, and pass them as properties to the NAnt build script.
