Hi all,
I've managed to get a fair way into creating my MSI and it seems to work
well, but I have a few hopefully quick questions that I hope someone can
help with.
1) How do I populate a single property (for example, SQLVersion) with
the results of two registry searches? I ask because it seems that SQL
2000 and 2005 store their versions in a different registry key.
2) In place of of point 1 I could call a SQL task and get the version
using T-SQL from the db, this would be excellent as I could detect if
full text indexing etc is installed. But...., is there a way to call a
SQL task and get the results back into properties that I can the alert
the user with?
3) Is there anything that handles dialog design out there? I've looked
at nantpad and I'm not impressed, it seems to do intellisense and my VS
build does that anyway. Dialog construction seems fairly involved.
4) Is there an easy way to check for an earlier / no version of Windows
installer? I had an installation yesterday where they were running 2.0
and the installer just fell over so I'd like to ship the latest build if
possible.
Thanks in advance
Ryan
