I'd start by clarifying the manual.  Currently all it says (on the
Expressions page) is "by using ${...} notation."  That's not particularly
clear.

Perhaps adding something like:

 Everything within the curly braces is evaluated according to expression
syntax, including the names of properties.  Thus it is never necessary and
always wrong to include a $ to dereference properties within the curly
braces.  For an example that shows this, see how the filename property is
used in example 4 below.
