Hello! I'm new to the mvpmc user mailing list and thought I'd pass
along some observations and pose a question. I am running the Myth .20
SVN and I have a Media MVP wireless H3. I've had a lot of trouble
getting it to run, but have finally had some success! Maybe what I
found is old news, but maybe not (as I did a lot of searching and didn't
find some of this info).
I may be crazy, but it seems that maybe Hauppauge changed the way the
the Media MVP boots. My system boots NOTHING like described in our
online documentation. It seems that the unit now scans for a server
BEFORE it does any tftp at all. Numerous attempts at satisfying the
beast with various tftp setups did nothing. Only after I downloaded and
installed "mvpserver" did I get the system to tftp the dongle.bin file
and successfully boot. Using this method, I have been able to
successfully boot into any dongle.bin file that I place on the tftp
server.
As I am a MythTV user, I am most interested in LiveTV. It appears that
the LAST daily build that I can use for LiveTV is Jan. 1, 2007. On the
otherhand, it seems that the wireless is only supported AFTER Jan. 1,
2007. I don't know if these two are related. It may be that something
in the wireless fix broke LiveTV. In any case, as of now it seems to be
that I can have EITHER LiveTV or wireless, but not BOTH.
Even though I am booting and running, I have NOT been able to get the
Media MVP to load a config file. I can see from the output of mvpserver
that the system scans for the streaming server, requests and gets the
dongle.bin and dongle.bin.ver files, but never asks for a config file.
Is it possible that the dongle.bin.ver somehow replaced the config file
in the wireless unit? If not, how do I get this unit to load a config
file? As of now, I must telnet to the unit to start mvpmc. This is
(obviously) not a long term solution.
All in all, I'm excited about the Media MVP. I am looking forward to
reading responses on this mailing list.
Thanks in advance,
Gary W.
