filters

would someone be kind enough to explain how I use filters with mutt?
i'm trying to sort my mail into different folders based on different
things like who it's from, or who it was sent to, and i'm not having
much luck.  so any help that anyone could provide would be greatly
appreciated.  thank you very much.
