So is a service just a name, or does it imply some behavior or functionality? 
For example, if I send a message to [email protected], that means 
that my message somehow will be distributed to the participants for me?

Sorry, I am new to XMPP so I may be totally confused. Note I am still studying 
the XMPP : The Definitive Guide.
Most of my thinking on DMUC has not included any concrete examples of how XMPP 
would/should support this. I have mostly considered the transport (multicast) 
and how to distribute chat room lists. Also we are working on timely, 
efficient, and robust ghost detection (at the transport layer).

It means a particular MUC service, like conference.jabber.org
