I'm from Brazil and as a Mozilla user, I'd like to use the software in my own language.
So, I'd like to offer my help in this work.
Please, let me know what to do about this.
You should start by looking at:
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/l10n/mlp_status.html
and finding out if there is a registered project already for your language and region. It it exists (even for a different Mozilla product that you intend to translate), you should first contact with them, as the "rule" is that no new team can be formed for a language-region if one already exists.
If no team is working in pt-BR (which I suppose would be your language and region, portuguese-Brazil), go to:
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/l10n/
and take a first look of the tasks and procedures involved in localizating a Mozilla product. Then, go to the localization newsgroup in news.mozilla.org, netscape.public.mozilla.l10n, and get in touch with MLP-staff to register yourself as a l10n volunteer.
FYI, "MLP" stands for Mozilla Localization Project, and "l10n" means "localization" ("10" is the number of letter between the "l" and "n" of "lozalization").
