First, my apologies for the crossposting. I wasn't sure which newsgroup was right.
never crosspost when one of the newsgroup has "general" in its name.
when cross posting, always set the FollowUp-To header so replies only go to one newsgroup.
I'm using Mozilla 1.5. I went into localstore.rdf to remove a whole lot of cruft in the location bar. While i was there, I noticed a lot of residue from websites which I hadn't visited in a while [snip]
I spent some time on mozilla and mozdev, but can't figure out what this stuff is, and whether it's worth it to try to remove it directly, as there seems to be no way to remove it using the user-accessible controls.
localestore.rdf stores data for the UI, such as sidebar width, toolbar button visibilities, and typed history. As you've noticed, clearing Location Bar does not necessarily delete all entries. If you're paranoid, you can close Mozilla, delete download.rdf, start Mozilla, reset all your UI, close Mozilla, then set the file to readonly. Weird things might happen though.
