We use DRA and Marie Clay's Observation Survey for first graders. DRA gives us the text level, and the observation survey gives us information on alphabet knowledge, sound knowledge, sight word knowledge and concepts about print. We monitor the child's progress throughout the year with DRA mostly.

Good Morning, I'm seeking information about what schools and districts are using for Benchmark Assessments for 1st graders. I'm a new literacy coordinator in an urban school district in the San Francisco Bay area. We have used Curriculum Associates for the last few years. However, teachers feel that the test measures the students familiarity with testing procedures rather than measuring their actual competency related to CA standards. Please let me know what your school is using and if you feel it is working. Also, if you could briefly describe the demographic make-up of your school, I'd be very appreciative. Thanks, Sandy _______________________________________________ Mosaic mailing list [email protected] To unsubscribe or modify your membership please go to http://literacyworkshop.org/mailman/options/mosaic_literacyworkshop.org Search the MOSAIC archives at http://snipurl.com/MosaicArchive _______________________________________________ Mosaic mailing list [email protected] To unsubscribe or modify your membership please go to http://literacyworkshop.org/mailman/options/mosaic_literacyworkshop.org Search the MOSAIC archives at http://snipurl.com/MosaicArchive
