So, in the spirit of "advocating for [my] branch", maybe a little
background would be helpful here. I maintain the perl-Moose package
in Fedora, and one of the things I'm working on is trying to keep
package test suites around after a package is built, so they can be
used to validate an installed/updated system, etc. This is the one
test that fails in this scenario, as the average user has no ability
to write where the tests are stored (and really, one shouldn't need
root to run the tests).
I can maintain this as a distinct Fedora-only patch, but I'd rather
not -- keeping patches around and deviating from upstream tends to be
Not So Fun after a while.
Thoughts? Am I going about this the wrong way, or is there something
I'm missing/overlooking here?
